The #LikeAnActivist Game Plan

your guide to taking action in 2021

If we learned anything in 2020, it’s that our work as activists has just begun. Letting up? Yeah, that’s not in the cards for 2021. But we can get more strategic and planful about how we go about it.

Because we know there’s still lots of work to be done (and we’ve got to go beyond just posting black boxes if we want change to happen). But we also know that a movement isn’t possible if it’s fueling burnout.

So for 2021, we’re here to help you build out your activism in a sustainable, in-it-for-the-long-run way. We’ve developed the #LikeAnActivist program to make it easier for anyone to continue their commitment to progress without feeling overwhelmed. (After all, taking action—in one form or another—is an important part of our lives, but it’s not the only part.) We’ll give you the support needed to continue on your activist journey, while also empowering you to decide the who/what/where/when of it all. In other words: You get to build up an activist practice that works for you.

The end goal? By December 2021, you’ll be able to look back on the year and see the consistent actions you’ve taken, the impact you’ve made, and the ways you’ve grown as an activist. (Pretty cool, right?)

Details, Details

how it works

Each month we’re dropping a new #LikeAnActivist workbook—or, depending on your membership level, a directional prompt—to support you through the next step on your activist path.

The program is designed to help you explore all the ways you can make an impact—think legislative lobbying, community building, and more—over the course of the year. Every workbook builds upon the previous month’s focus—which means that, instead of being expected to do everything and learn everything at once (hello, burnout), you’ll be able to grow your activist practice in a sustainable way. (Think of us as your marathon pacer.)

In addition, we’ve got a #LikeAnActivist check-in worksheet for you to fill out at the end of every month. It’s kinda like an accountability buddy, reminding you of the commitment to activism you made. But it’s also a place for celebrating your wins—in the thick of things, it’s sometimes hard to see all that you’ve accomplished, so this worksheet will capture everything you’ve done each month; by the end of the year, you’ll be able to look at them and feel pretty damn good about the progress you’ve made.

what you’ll focus on

Real talk: Long-term commitment to activism is only possible if you’re actually motivated by the issue(s) you’re advocating for. That’s why we’ve created a program that works with whatever it is that you want to focus on in 2021.

So you get to pick the issue—whether it’s civil rights, climate justice, or anything in between—along with your end goals, the amount of time you can commit on a monthly basis, and the details of what taking action means to you.

We want you to feel a sense of ownership over your activist habits, so that by January 2022, you’ll know the type of activism that you can regularly incorporate into your life. (Remember: We’re here to build out long-term habits.)

how to join

The core #LikeAnActivist program is running through our Activist Social Club on Patreon. In addition to getting access to our exclusive monthly workbooks, you’ll also get perks like curated action picks, resources, and a built-in community of likeminded individuals doing the work alongside you. (Accessibility is important to us, so membership starts at just $2 a month, FYI.)

But anyone can access our #LikeAnActivist check-in worksheet, which is available to download here 👇

Whichever way you join us, let us know how you’re living #likeanactivist in 2021—we love hearing from you.
